How to Properly Store Fresh Herbs

How to Properly Store Fresh Herbs

I love to cook with fresh herbs, instead of dried, whenever possible; the taste difference is noticeable in nearly any dish. The problem with using fresh herbs, however, is that you have to buy an entire bunch at a time, even if you only need it for one or two dishes. Fresh herbs typically don’t keep more than a few days to a week in the refrigerator without proper storage. I like to buy fresh herbs that I use often, such as Italian Parsley and Cilantro; I hate to waste any, so I did research on how to get the most use out of my herbs. I found several different methods of storage, and I’ve tried a couple of different ones. The method that I use-the best that I’ve found-is to cover the herbs in damp paper towels and store in a large, sealed plastic freezer bag; store in the crisper drawer in the refrigerator. I’ve found that fresh herbs can keep for up to several weeks with this method!
